If you asked me a year or two ago if I would ever wear denim on denim, I would probably reply heck no. Britney and Justin did it at the 2001 American Music Awards, and no one has forgotten. My opinion then was, unless you were pairing blue denim with black or white denim, it was tacky. But like all things in fashion, this trend has evolved and is now considered a chic classic look whether casual or dressed up. I have figured out a few tricks to rock the trend.
- Try a pair of distressed jeans: Because I chose to match my denim (you totally don’t need to), I reached for a pair of distressed jeans to break apart from my chambray shirt. This keeps the look from looking too matchy matchy.
2. Dress it up: it’s all about balance. I added a classic white Zara blazer to dress it up, as well as some heeled sandals from old navy. Both pieces also help to slim me, as light denim does tend to make you look bigger while dark denim does the opposite. blazer: similar here
- 3. Add the right accessories: Avoid cowboy hats or fringe anything unless you are going for a more boho look. Choose simple pieces that will add to your look not take away, like my gold sunnies and my handbag that ties in with my sandals. Simple, but gives the look a little extra somethin’. sunnies: here
