My 2017 Accomplishments & 2018 Resolutions

It’s hard to believe we only have a few days left in 2017! This year has really flown by, and I have been thinking about all that I accomplished this year, and what I want to accomplish in the coming year.

In 2017, I gave blogging a real shot. I have kept my promise to myself to atleast post once a week, which might not seem like much, but it’s been a good start. In doing so, I have gotten to collaborate with different brands, and connect with amazing girls who all share the same passion as me. I stopped caring about the numbers, and more about the interactions I make, and it’s really made this blogging experience much more enjoyable.

In 2017, I also became a lot more confident in myself. I remember when I started how difficult it was for me to stand in the middle of a crowd for a photo, and how awkward I felt in front of the camera. Now I have atleast 3 poses down pat! LOL …but seriously, blogging has definitely changed me for the best. I care so much less about what others think, which is something I have always struggled with. I even stepped out of my comfort zone style wise.

In 2017, I got creative. I’ve always been a creative person visually, whether it’s putting an outfit together, or decorating my house…and this year, blogging was an outlet for me to get to put my creativity to work. It doesn’t take much to take a picture and post it, but I’ve really tried to make it all flow. For example, if I look a little edgy, I’ll stand somewhere more grungy….if I am dressed up, I’ll stand somewhere more sleek…or I will make sure the colors go well together. I also try to make sure my instagram aesthetic is visually appealing, and it helps that I mastered some editing apps. This might seem like a hastle, but I actually really enjoy it. It gets my creative juices flowing haha!

In 2017, I also became a better cook! I have lived out of my parent’s for two years now, and coming from a home where my mother did it all, I really had to find my way around the kitchen. After a few rough tries, I can now make some pretty great dishes. I am no way as good as my mother, but I’ll get there. My boyfriend does do most of the cooking because he enjoys it, but coming from a traditional home where my mom did most of the cooking, I’m happy that I’ll be able to cook for my future children as she always did.

Overall, in 2017….I think I began becoming the woman I was meant to be. It’s crazy because when you are younger you feel like 30 is so old and the age to have it all together, when in reality, 30 is when you really start to find yourself. I turned 29 this year, and by the time I reach 30, there’s a few things I want to work towards…

In 2018, I want to put more work into my blog and Instagram, by taking more professional photos (thanks to my new camera), and try to do more posts a week instead of one, even if they can’t all be outfit posts. In doing so, I hope to get even more collaborations and sponsored posts, and double my following.

In 2018, I want to aim for the career I want. Blogging has shown me that I can be good at a career like visual merchandising, and I want to look into some online courses that will hopefully prepare me, and take me a step in the right direction. I never started blogging with the intentions of it becoming my career, but who knows where this will take me.

In 2018, I want to travel more. I’m getting to the age that I am starting to think about kids, and it’s going to be so much harder to travel with toddlers. I really want to make sure I see more of the world before I do so, whether it’s different states in the U.S. or different countries. Although New Jersey is home, I feel like there’s somewhere else in the world for me, and I want to see more of it!

Lastly, in 2018, I want to find a workout I enjoy. I know I know….working out is always someone’s resolution, but I really want to take it serious this year. I have always thought about trying yoga, and I already looked up a place near me that I am going to start in the Spring. Winter is so depressing and cold, that I can’t find the motivation to go…but come Spring, I’m making a promise to myself to try it out. I’m more focused than ever to grow in all aspects of my life.

If you made it all the way down, thank you for reading! What are some of your resolutions? If you wrote a post similar to this, let me know so I can read! Hope everyone has a happy and safe NYE. Cheers to an incredible 2018!
